Final Day in NYC

We did not waste any time our final day in NYC. We had shopping to do and there were still some sights we wanted to see before leaving. While the rest of our travel group was still asleep Ryan and I started out early and headed for the Rockefeller Plaza. When we arrived NBC was taping the Today Show outside at their studios. So we looked around and saw Natalie Morales doing the news inside and made a quick stop at Deen and Deluca for our last coffee. It was St. Patrick's Day so they were handing out hats to all the crazy people.





We were one of the very first people of the day to head to the Top Of The Rock. It was nice not to waste time standing in long lines and we were at the top in a matter of minutes. We had heard you could expect to wait in line an hour or two. The view was spectacular, we could even vaguely see the Statue of Liberty in the distance.





We were soon headed back down 70 some stories to see the ice skating rink in Rockefeller Center.



Ryan really wanted to see Tiffany's jewelry store, so we walked blocks and blocks as fast as we could through crowds of people already lining up for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. When we arrived they didn't open for 15 more minutes. So we waited. And when they finally opened the doors it was just like that scene form Sweet Home Alabama, when he takes her to Tiffanys to pick out a ring.... We oooh'd and aaah'd on every floor, asked a few prices, and if we could buy a little blue box (NO). And left with myself a new huge diamond wedding ring.....Just kidding.... We left with nothing. But it was fun :)



We hurried back to the area around Times square and had a great time together finishing up our souvenir shopping.



While at one of the stores I asked for suggestions to have a New York lunch. We wanted something we couldn't have back home. The shop guy suggested an authentic Kosher restaurant. So feeling brave we took off for Mr. Broadway. We had the thing they were most famous for, lamb!Ryan had her Shwarma in a baguette and I had mine in a pita, YUMMY! We had a wonderful time visiting with a Jewish man who got the waitress to bring us samples of a dessert called Rugelach, as he raved about the restaurant. We were almost the only ones without the black caps on our heads. It was a great experience.



Because of this crazy parade going on I thought we should head back to our hotel early just to be sure we were there on time. And I am glad we did. We walked through Times Square one last time, and were lucky enough to see a fight break out. There were alot of drunk people by this time. About 1:00pm! So things were getting kinda scary. When we finally got back to our hotel we had to get permission to cross the police barricade, since they were using the street in front of our hotel to line up people in the parade. So after our van found a place we could walk to and meet him, we were off to La Guardia for the flights home.
