We came up out of the subway and started at Central Park. It is humongous and beautiful, there is so much to see. I would love to see it in the spring when it is green and flowers are blooming.

Across from Central Park we saw the famous Plaza Hotel(from the Elosie books). This was on Ryan's list of things to see.

Next we hurried through Grand central Station. I had no idea how big and beautiful it was. I got scolded for running my camcorder during our history lesson.....ever heard of multitasking?? My pictures of it are really pitiful!

From there we ran through China town and walked through Little Italy.

We were given a few minutes here and Ryan and I opted for the Italian bakery for an authentic Canoli and a gorgeous chocolate confection.....We also found a real piece of New York pizza. And yes we folded it in half and ate it correctly, Yummy!

Soon we were back on the subway headed for Ground Zero. New Yorkers do not refer to it as ground Zero. They actually take offense to this. They do not like the thought of it being a tourist attraction. Our guide asked that we refer to the site as they do, The World Trade Center Site. It was good to see the sight, not in a tourist attraction way. But knowing what happen there was very humbling.

There is a very old Church across the street from the site where the rescue workers rested. This church has been turned into a sort of memorial for the lives lost and to honor the rescuers as well. There were several displays inside, and they left one church pew from the time it was used as a resting place. At one end of this pew they have placed a firefighters dirty uniform and at the other end they have left the pew scarred from the men lying down and kicking the back of the pew with their boots.

From here we took a another subway ride to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You may recognize it from several movies. There is just no way to describe the massiveness of this building. We had 2.5 hours in there and we only touched a small part of the museum. It is just huge. We spent some time looking at the impressionist art. And while Ryan was taking a photo of Monet's signature, a guard asked her to step back, stating that painting is worth 100 Million dollars! Enough said...She also got to close to another sculpture and an alarm went off. As her dad said, she always has seen with her hands.

When we left the Museum we walked, or more accurately RAN over 30 blocks to make it to Times Square in time for our dinner reservation. That night we saw Mary Poppins on Broadway! What a treat!! I think this may have been my favorite part of the whole trip. It is fantastic! I think we all finally drifted off to sleep around 1am that night/morning.....I told Ryan we'd sleep when we got home.
