We will always celebrate the Lunar New Year at our house. It is part of Mady's heritage and part of who are family is. On February 14th we decorated the kitchen and ushered in the year of the Tiger with a fun dinner of Chinese food.
Mady has been blessed this year with a teacher who celebrates Chinese New Year with her class and teaches them about many traditions in Asia. They did lots of fun crafts and ended the two weeks of study with a dragon parade, which Mady got to lead, and a party! Of course I chose to help with this party for the year. We had noodles, tea, rice paper candy, and fortune cookies. The kids took off their shoes and lined them up in the hallway, and wore their bathrobes for the occasion. It was so much fun! Mady was very special the whole time. Her teacher even had her tell the class where she was born and taught her to be proud of who she is and who God made her to be. Her teacher told me that during these 2 weeks Mady is special. After this study she would just be one of the other kids in the class but for now she is very special.
To top off our fun week, we received a special treat in the mail.....a package from Grace, our exchange student from last summer. It was full of decorations for the Spring Festival and a stuffed panda for Mady.
